In-Person programs: Covid Protocol

Updated February, 2023

Broadway Artists Alliance will continue to run in-person sessions in NYC for Winter and Summer 2023 programming!

We continue to monitor the evolving nature of Covid-19 and require all students, family members, staff and faculty to adhere to our safety measures. Below are the policies Broadway Artists Alliance has in place going into 2023 Winter and Summer Intensives.
Parents and students who are already enrolled in in-person programs will also receive direct communication from BAA about any further developments in a timely manner. Please note if there is active exposure or a student is feeling unwell, we may tighten our covid policies to ensure the safety of all students, faculty, staff, and guests.

The below is our currently planned protocol:

  1. All BAA staff members and Broadway instructors are fully vaccinated
  2. All students and staff must submit proof of one negative Covid-19 test regardless of vaccination status.
For students and families: each member of the traveling family unit must test and submit results. Home tests, Rapid tests and PCR test will be accepted.
Covid tests must be taken within 48 hours (Home or Rapid tests) or 72 hours (PCR tests) of the start of the intensive. You may test either in your home state or upon arrival in New York, as long as it’s within the aforementioned window before day 1 of your intensive.
  3. As safety is our primary concern and students and their families will be traveling to NYC from all over the country, students, staff, and faculty will be encouraged to wear a mask throughout the intensive except when performing. We are not requiring masks for 2023 intensives, but we strongly recommend and encourage them when not performing.
We ask that every student brings 1-2 masks with them daily in case they elect to wear them or if a change in circumstance causes us to adjust our policy. Some Broadway faculty, currently in Broadway shows with strict backstage and outside of work masking policies, may verbally encourage you during their individual Master Classes to mask up while in their class.
  4. Each classroom is equipped with its own PPE, including hand sanitizer, paper towels, extra masks, sanitizing wipes, and more. You can read more about Ripley Grier Studios own safety efforts including their ventilation system, here.
  5. BAA has an RN on call ready to assist with Covid Protocol should a positive case of Covid-19 arise during an in-person intensive.
  6. For those planning to attend one of our optional Broadway Shows, please take note of updates via Broadway League’s Official page and how theatre protocols may be updated via the link above.

More details about specific procedures and expectations will be provided to students and families well in advance of an in-person program. If you would like to know more specific details, please give us a call at 212.5619421 Ext. 1.
Please note, students will receive updated versions of this handbook for their specific intensive session and expectations and requirements are subject to change.
