Tias’s Coaching Philosophy
As a coach, I’m interested in getting to the heart of the story of the material in a way that feels connected and specific to the performer. I’m interested in discovering each actor’s unique path to finding truth in the moment and the circumstances of the narrative and using exercises and questions to find ways to drop into the material time after time. I look forward to making pieces feel fresh each time you perform them, and to creating complex character perspectives that excite the viewer and performer alike! With a background in theatre and linguistics, I’m very text-based, leaning into what the playwright, author, or lyricist might have been trying to get across and using that to our advantage to tell the most compelling story we can. I specialize in College Audition Preparation (from Essays to Material Selection to Monologue Preparation, Scene Study, Monologue Work, and Audition and Callback targeted sessions.
