Winter Classes:
⭐️ The Musical Theatre College Dance audition Crash Course: two Saturdays in November with Sarah Meahl!
For both Singers and Actors who “move well” and Dancers who need to refresh their ballet technique, terminology, and choreography retention skills!
If you are searching for a way to prepare for your next College or Professional Dance Audition, BAA has put together a fun and effective way to get you ready for even the most challenging of dance calls, all while training from home.
Don’t fall behind on dance preparation!
Your instructor, Broadway’s Sarah Meahl, will make sure you are ready to hold your own AND stand out in the crowd -even in a Zoom Audition Room. In addition to basic ballet skills review, Sarah will give students essential tips on nailing a single or double turn, assist you with understanding the typical terminology and combinations used in “across the floor” and “center” work, help you prepare for the dreaded “improv” section of many combinations, and give you tips to pick up choreography quickly while focusing on storytelling through dance and catching the eye of the adjudicators.
Class 1 – Saturday, November 14th (4:00-5:30pm ET)
_________Ballet skills, jazz warm up, and terminology crash course
Class 2 – Saturday November 21st (4:00-5:30pm ET)
_________Mock Dance Audition featuring Two Fun Combinations
All via Zoom!
Students should come dressed in their potential dance audition attire, as Sarah will give personal tips on presentation including further suggestions regarding shoes and dance apparel.
Can’t attend one or both of these sessions in real time? For those registered, we will send a video of Sarah’s Two Classes after each event! Use the videos for at-home training or as a tool to come back to time and time again to refresh on terminology and tips before each of your dance auditions!

STARTING SEPTEMBER 12th, 2020 study the lives, styles and vocabulary of six legendary choreographers that shaped Broadway Dance as we know it! Learn a new combination of original (and iconic) Broadway choreography each week and get ready to nail your next Broadway dance call, no matter what your current level of dance.
This is a class that no serious musical theatre performer should go without! Each 90 minute class includes a warm up, history and discussion on each choreographer, and a short combination with particular detail paid to mastering their iconic dance styles:
Class 1 – Sep. 12th: Agnes de Mille (Oklahoma, Carousel, Brigadoon)
Class 2 – Sep. 19th: Jerome Robbins (On the Town, West Side Story, Fiddler on the Roof)
Class 3 – Sep. 26th: Bob Fosse (Pajama Game, Sweet Charity, Chicago)
Class 4 – Oct. 3rd: Hope Clarke (Jelly’s Last Jam, Caroline or Change, Porgy and Bess)

This series is open to all interested participants without the need to audition!
Two Dance Levels Available:
⭐️ 2:00- 3:30pm Class: Advanced Beginner to Intermediate Level Dancers (For singer/actors who “move well” but are serious about improving their dance skills). Those attending this class will walk away with a great working foundation in theatre dance. In this class, you’ll learn the same advanced combinations as in the advanced schedule, but extra attention will be given to explaining and breaking down dance terminology and fundamental technique. You will rise to the challenge!
⭐️ 4:00- 5:30pm Class: Intermediate to Advanced Level Dancers (At least 4 years or more of dance training and/or a very strong working foundation, facility and skill set in theatre dance is recommended). In this class, we’ll get nitty gritty into the specific nuances of each of their styles. Advanced combinations will be taught quickly but also broken down stylistically with care. More advanced dancers with the goal of mastering multiple styles while continuing to advance their dance audition technique skills will benefit from this class.
