STARTING APRIL 10th, 2021 our popular Dance Legends Series is BACK!

Study the lives, styles and vocabulary of top legendary Broadway choreographers.  Explore these choreographers’ unique work and styles as we move through the legends of Contemporary Musical Theatre!  Learn a new combination of original (and iconic) Broadway choreography each week and get ready to nail your next Broadway dance call, no matter what your current level of dance.

This is a class that no serious musical theatre performer should go without! Each 90 minute class includes a warm up, history and discussion on each choreographer, and a short combination with particular detail paid to mastering their iconic dance styles.

ADVANCED Dancers will meet Saturdays at 4:30pm
BEGINNER/INTERMEDIATE Dancers will meet Sundays at 4:30pm

This series is open to all interested participants without the need to audition!

Two Dance Levels Available:
⭐️ Advanced Beginner to Intermediate Level Dancers – SUNDAYS (4:30pm – 6:00pm ET)
(For singer/actors who “move well” but are serious about improving their dance skills). Those attending this class will walk away with a great working foundation in theatre dance. In this class, you’ll learn the same advanced combinations as in the advanced schedule, but extra attention will be given to explaining and breaking down dance terminology and fundamental technique. You will rise to the challenge!
Beginner /

Intermediate series class dates: Sundays, April 11th, April 18th, April 25th, May 2nd, May 9th, May 16th, 2021.

⭐️ Intermediate to Advanced Level Dancers – SATURDAYS (4:30pm – 6:00pm ET)
(At least 4 years or more of dance training and/or a very strong working foundation, facility and skill set in theatre dance is recommended). In this class, we’ll get nitty gritty into the specific nuances of each of their styles. Advanced combinations will be taught quickly but also broken down stylistically with care. More advanced dancers with the goal of mastering multiple styles while continuing to advance their dance audition technique skills will benefit from this class.
Advanced series class dates: Saturdays, April 10th, April 17th, April 24th, May 1st, May 8th, May 15th, 2021.

SARAH MEAHL:
Sarah is a proud BAA Alumna whose Broadway credits include Kiss Me, Kate!, Hello, Dolly! and Cirque du Soleil’s Paramour. Off Broadway: Standard Time (The Duke), The Golden Apple (Encores!), Thoroughly Modern Millie (Minskoff). Pre-Broadway Labs: The Music Man, The Secret Garden, Anastasia, Clueless, Romy & Michelle’s…Reunion. Regional: Papermill Playhouse, La Jolla Playhouse, Broadway Sacramento, TUTS, TOTS, The MUNY, KC Starlight, The Old Globe, D.C. Shakespeare and Walnut Street Theatre. The basics about BAA online classes:

What you’ll need to have:

  • An internet connection.
  • A computer or connecting device with a camera.
  • A secondary device in which to play your accompaniment track (for vocal sessions).
  • A quiet space to connect from.
  • A headset for when you are listening to other people perform or the instructor speak! (You can remove them when it is your turn to perform!)

How will it work?

  • We will meet using ZOOM.
    This is a free service you may already have. Please, download the latest version to guarantee a smooth connection and use of all the latest features. When creating your user name, please make sure it features the student’s NAME and/or LAST NAME so you can be easily and properly identified by the instructor.
  • Logging into your ZOOM class room. 
    You’ll receive a Zoom class room link before the start of the first session of your selected series. This will be the same link you’ll use every week to connect.
  • Only participants registered in the Master Class will be allowed in. So, reserve your spot in a timely manner!
  • Your instructor will be accompanied by a BAA Staff member during each Master Class. The BAA staff member will supervise, address and help with any technical questions, and guarantee each performer gets equal work time with the instructor. During vocal classes, we will lead a warm up right before so everyone is ready to sing!
