Get comfortable with the digital format for this year’s College auditions!

BAA’s College Mock Auditions operate like real college auditions, and serve as a chance for you to put your months of preparation into action before the real deal. The mock audition mirrors a master class format, meaning, you will audition in front of a panel of coaches (some of whom are on actual college faculties) and the rest of the students participating in the mock audition. This is an exceptional opportunity to learn from your peers and coaches, but feel supported and celebrated by your BAA Family. Dressed in your college audition outfit(s), you’ll experience what it’s like to participate in a dance call, live virtual audition and undergo interview questions in a professional college audition setting. You’ll leave with valuable feedback that will help ensure you’re ready for the coming months of auditioning ahead. In addition to live feedback, all students will receive written follow up feedback and constructive notes on their mock audition for continued reflection!

Your Schedule (Mock Audition Day Overview):

  • 11:00am-11:50pm: Presentation and Q&A for Parents and Students led by Jennifer Johns
An array of topics will be covered, including understanding Acceptd’s new “AuditionRoom” virtual audition platform, navigating admissions decisions, etc. Parents are welcome for this portion of the day!
  • 12:00PM-1:15PM: Dance Call
BAA Dance Director, Sarah Meahl (who also frequently teaches the Dance Audition at NY Unified Auditions and for Point Park University) will lead students through a typical college dance call. Learn what to expect from your BFA and BA Dance Calls, and gain confidence in how to stand out in a Zoom dance audition.
  • 1:15PM-2:00PM: Lunch Break
  • 2:00PM-3:30PM: Mock Audition/Interviews
Students will present material and participate in a standard interview with a panel of BAA College Coaches/Faculty. Each student will receive brief feedback and will be given adjustments.

    • Musical Theatre Major Requirements: Students will present two contrasting 32 Bars and one Contemporary Monologue.
    • Acting Major Requirements: Students will present two contrasting monologues (either two contemporaries, or a contemporary and classical) and one optional song.
