Classes will be open to the first 100 people to join. Classes start at 1:00pm each Saturday, attendees will be let into the virtual classroom starting at 12:50pm! Arrive early to guarantee your spot.

Let’s Talk Shop: The Business of Broadway
INSTRUCTOR: Jennifer Johns – BAA’s Artistic Director and Founder
ABOUT THE CLASS: Learn the business of Broadway with BAA’s Director and Founder- Jennifer Johns. Get your questions answered regarding the New York industry; a realistic career outlook for young performers and their parents including navigating professional Regional, New York, and Broadway auditions, the professional performing unions, marketing, mailings, pictures and résumés, working well with an agent or manager, entertainment taxes, casting director submissions, transitioning from kids in the biz to young adult careers, navigating college BFA programs, finding the right training and professional opportunities, and more!
ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR: Jennifer began her career as a working child performer and created BAA with her childhood interests and passions at heart. As an adult professional, Jennifer has toured with six Broadway National and International Tours as well as performed extensively in NYC and Regional Theatre. Favorite roles include Reno in Anything Goes, The Narrator in Joseph…Dreamcoat, Betty in White Christmas, The Mother in A Christmas Story, Princess Puffer in Mystery of Edwin Drood, Peggy in 42nd Street, and as a Singer/Dancer with the Radio City Christmas Spectacular. She is proud to see so many of her students currently at top Universities, with Broadway and National Tours credits, and signed to Top NYC Agents and Managers! She holds a M.M. in Musical Theatre (Vocal Performance) as well as an Advanced Graduate Certificate in Vocal Pedagogy from NYU and is now part of the Faculty at Pace University. The Insta-smart Actor and Self Tape Genius
INSTRUCTOR: Scheherazade Quiroga – BAA’s Private Coach and Director of Auditions and Media
ABOUT THE CLASS: Social media and self-taping: tools that don’t make an actor, but that have the power to make an actor KNOWN quicker, easier and more precisely! Be smart about connecting successfully to projects, opportunities and the people in charge of them. In this hour session we’ll talk about the basics and we’ll answer your specific questions on each area, including:
– What makes a great self-tape?
– Mastering the technicalities of self tape and avoiding common mistakes
– Materials needed (they’re way less than you think and should not be expensive!)
– Do you need to have social media accounts? Do you need a website?
– Basics rules to make social media work for you as a performing artist.
ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR: Scheherazade’s students can be seen on Broadway, National Tours, regional productions and TV in the US and abroad. With a MM in Musical Theatre from New York University and and MS in Television from Boston University, and experience onstage, on camera and behind it (as producer, director and writer). As a performer, Scheherazade was part of the US Spanish Premiere of In The Heights as Daniela (Helen Hayes Award nomination, BroadwayWorld Award nomination). INSTRUCTOR: Heather Parcells – BAA’s Broadway Faculty and Private Coach
ABOUT THE CLASS: How to nail your next Broadway dance audition! Learn short excerpts of TEN (10) of BAA’s all time favorite dance numbers of Broadway classics while gaining tips and tricks on how to stand out in a crowd, no matter what your dance level!
Optional BONUS: stay until the end of the class to run the final choreography for a special video for the BAA Instagram!
ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR: Heather Parcells is a triple threat with multiple Broadway credits, including Tuck Everlasting, A Chorus Line (Judy, original revival cast), Finding Neverland, Wonderland, Soul Doctor, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. National Tours: Thoroughly Modern Millie (Miss Dorothy), Some Like it Hot (Sweet Sue u/s), Chicago (Velma). She has also appeared on Dancing with the Stars with Mario Lopez, and opened the 2007 Tony® Awards with A Chorus Line and regularly teaches dance and audition master classes all over the country. Vocalize with Vocal-Ease!
INSTRUCTOR: Ashleigh Junio – BAA’s Director or Education and Private Coach.
ABOUT THE CLASS: Singers are often called Vocal Athletes, but with the demands of the Broadway industry, musical theatre singers are more like Vocal OLYMPIANS. Some of the topics we will discuss include:
– The challenges of being a young musical theatre singer and how to navigate them
– Tips for warming up, practicing, and choosing songs that will improve your vocal skills
– Knowing how the young voice develops and changes from childhood to adulthood
– How to find a voice teacher and know if they’re a good match for you
– Safe belting technique
– Advice on staying healthy when performing
– Common vocal injuries- how to prevent them and what to do if you think you might have one.
ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR: Ashleigh is a current member of the voice faculty at Cap 21/Molloy College and The American Musical and Dramatic Academy, and a Singing Voice Specialist associated with the NYU Langone Voice Center. She has worked as a professional performer for many years and appeared in the National Tours of Elf (u/s Deb) and Tikki Tikki Tembo (Woman 1). Ashleigh holds a dual Master’s degree in Musical Theatre Vocal Performance and Vocal Pedagogy from New York University. More on Ashleigh here!
